This product contains no beeswax or soy.

Lip Balm History and Information:

Lip Balm or Lip Salve is a substance topically applied to the lips of the mouth to relieve chapped or dry lips and cold sores. Lip gloss is similar in the fact that it is topically applied to the lips of the mouth, but generally has only cosmetic properties. The primary purpose of lip balm is to provide an occlusive layer on the lip surface to seal moisture in the lips and protect them from external exposure. Dry air, cold temperatures and wind all have a drying effect on skin by drawing moisture away from the body. Lips are particularly vulnerable because the skin is so thin, and thus they are often the first to present signs of dryness. The occlusive materials like wax prevent moisture loss and maintain lip comfort while flavorants, colorants, sunscreens and various other ingredients can provide additional, specific benefits.

Lip balm usually comes in tiny containers; either one in which a finger is used to apply it to the lips, or in 'stick' form (similar to lipstick) which is applied directly to the lips.

The first lip balm was actually made out of ear wax. It was functional, but the taste was undesirable.

Shelf Life

Skincare is food for the skin.

The two goals of fresh and natural, mean a natural product should be fresh and a fresh product should be natural. The normal anticipated shelf life of a natural product is about 1 year from the date of purchase from the manufacturer. The actual shelf life of the product may be longer or shorter depending on how the product is altered, changed, stored, packaged and handled before sale to the final consumer. If ingredients are added to our bases and stock products, you’ll want to consider if they will shorten or change the shelf life and stability of the product.

In general, it is up to the company that is selling to the final consumer to determine the anticipated shelf life of the product. Currently the FDA does not require expiration dates on cosmetics or skincare products. Consider being conservative about expiration time frames and encouraging the consumer to use up the product while it is fresh (3-6 months) or discard it after the time frame has pasted.

It is the responsibility of the customer to conduct appropriate research and development on the use and safety of each item they order before retailing this item to the final consumer.
